Two new contacts via GenesReunited

GenesReunited doesn't always get good press with fellow genealogists. However broadly I am a fan, I have made a number of good contacts over the years. Indeed I have made two good, friendly and very helpful contacts in the last few days.

In each case they have been able to solve some of the problems I had with linking people without buying BMD certificates and hopefully they have, and will continue to, benefit from research I have done and am prepared to do on their behalf.

Thanks to Nicki and Kerry for your help so far.

Of course, not all contacts made through GenesReunited result in a two-way exchange. For some it is a passing interest in genealogy whilst they then get on with their busy lives. Hopefully they will remember me when they want to delve a little deeper.

For others there is the quite understandable suspicion about the motivation of someone who contacts them out of the blue and who they don't know, but who wants to know about their family. Believe me I do understand, but for me this for me a very satisfying hobby. The Jigsaw puzzle where there are no straight edges and no picture to guide me.

Genghis Khan and a FREE DNA test

I've just been reading a newspaper article about a U.S. Accountant, whose family came from Cumbria in the the UK. Through a DNA test he has had his ancestry linked directly to Genghis Khan, the 13th century warlord.

We can't promise you such exciting ancestors, however it does perhaps illustrate the potential for male line Y-Chromosome DNA testing. If you would like to read the article go to Genghis Khan

Lance and I need a few more PIMBLE people to sign-up for DNA testing to make those essential links between family groups and enhance the genealogy information we currently have and can share with you.

If you are a PIMBLE male, have an unbroken male line and are descended from one of our targetted ancestors, then please contact me and I will pay the cost of the DNA test.

Obviously I can't afford to do this for too many people and therefore it needs to be limited in quantity.

If you are tempted, feel free to contact me and we can discuss it some more. Want to read some more about DNA testing?, visit the link on the right.

DNA PROJECT - latest

The first two DNA test results do not show a match.

Another kit is being processed and results will be due in July. One other test will follow, those results will probably not be available until August.

Genes Reunited

Welcome to any of you that end up here in response to my emails via GenesReunited.

I periodically check GenesReunited for potential new PIMBLE / PYMBLE contacts in the hope that we can assist each other in discovering more about the name and the people. Please feel free to contact me anytime.

Another sign-up to the PIMBLE DNA project!

This time Arthur who we believe is descended from Thomas PYMBLE born circa 1801 in Ballingham, Herefordshire. Interestingly Arthur's surname is not PIMBLE or PYMBLE, as one of his ancestors, who was one of the children of Thomas and Esther, changed his surname between 1881 and 1891.

PIMBLE in NZ continued

It seems that Claire's husband is not related to the early NZ PIMBLE's but is actually descended from Ann PIMBLE baptised 19 April 1818 in Hartpury, Gloucestershire daughter of William & Hannah. Ann married William APPERLEY in 1838 also in Hartpury.
